Module 1: My Europass documents
2. Europass documents
2.2. Language passport/Language skills
The Europass Language Passport was established as one of the Europass document templates in 2004 as a self-assessment tool for language skills and qualifications. The current Europass integrates the language passport within the Europass profile as a section called “Language skills”. You are still able to self-assess your language competences based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and can share your results with employers or education institutions as necessary.
The CEFR has six levels from A1 (basic user) all the way to C2 (proficient User) and it encompasses each area of language skills, namely understanding, reading, spoken interaction and spoken production and writing. It is valid for any language.
